Included in the instructional sessions will be lectures on remote camera installations, large arena lighting, and the business of freelance sports photography. Many participants of this workshop have gone on to shoot for the top sports magazines in the country. This workshop is best suited for professional and advanced-amateur photographers who are self-motivated. Be sure to also check the Daily Sessions page for a description of a typical day at the workshop.

As you can see from our tentive schedules, it's a very busy week and we often try to offer multiple choices of topics and shooting opportunities to cater to as wide a range of needs as possible. You will find that some attendees shoot a lot during the week and others will spend more time in the workshop classroom attending sessions on a wide range of technical, creative and business topics. The choice is up to you.

With 10-15 instructors and staff onsite, and attendanceof roughly 60, each student can be assured a low student-to-instructor ratio and ample personalized attention. The combined knowledge of the faculty is outstanding and attendees have a chance to get not one or two opinions on their work, but a dozen points of view from a cross-section of the industry that you won't find anywhere else.

The manufacturers room with a wide variety of gear for demo and sale at special discount.

We ask that you bring all of the equipment with which you normally shoot, especially Nikon users, as you will be able to use the large consignment of Nikon cameras and lenses in conjunction with your own. Photographers that currently use other brands of cameras are free to use your own equipment. You'll need to provide your own laptop or other workstation to download and edit your images, though we can assist you with a variety of demo software available.

We have not yet updated packets for 2012, but please view the posted packets for 2011, as the general structure and many details and topics will be very similar to ther previous year's program, so you'll still get a very good feel for what to expect. Some portions will not be updated until just a few weeks prior to the workshop as we finalize final faculty travel schedules and available events to photograph. Please call 1-800-745-3211 with further questions, one of our associates would be happy to describe the workshop at length. We will continue to post updated information concerning the workshop.

Host Hotel

The Antlers Hilton Colorado Springs. We will maintain our workshop classroom at the Antlers Hilton, and most instructional sessions will occur here. We've negotiated a special workshop rate of $134 per night, just ask for the Sports Photography Workshop rate. Please call 1-719-955-5600 to make your reservation as soon as possible to obtain the special rate.

Travel

You may fly into Colorado Springs (COS) or drive in from the surrounding area. In the case that flights into Colorado Springs are fully booked, Denver (DEN) is the next nearest airport (about 90 mins by car). If you fly into the area, we recommend renting a car for the duration of the week as transportation is not provided and many of the best shooting venues are a decent drive from the hotel.

Tuition

$1350; includes the welcoming reception/dinner the first event evening, daily continental breakfast in the hotel classroom, instruction, evening presentations, and the farewell dinner the final night night. Please budget for lodging, car rental, and most meals. You may register via one of the methods below with a deposit of $300. The remainder of the registration fee needs to be paid two months in advance. Just prior to that deadline, we will email you a reminder that we will automatically charge your card for the remainder of your tuition. If you would prefer another method of payment, or you paid your deposit by check, please contact us at that time to finalize payment. Tuition deposits will be refunded in full up to April 20th.  After that time, if you need to cancel for any reason, your paid deposit/tuition is non-refundable, but can be applied in full to a future workshop of your choosing.

Space still available!

A tuition discount of 10% is offered for full-time students and educators, workshop alumni, and members of our partnering organizations, NPS, NPPA, NANPA and ASMP.
